Test 2

September 28   Sunday:   Emigrant Springs State Park,  Meacham, Oregon    121 miles

On our first morning we woke somewhat early at 7:45 AM to cloudy skies and cold temperatures.  This morning we continued south along I-84, stopping in La Grande for our first stop at Safeway to get a few supplies, then we were on to Baker where we made a quick stop for lunch at Subway as our stomachs were complaining from not having breakfast this morning.
It was still early, around 1:00 PM when we arrived at our favorite campground, Farewell Bend State Park along the Snake River.   We had thought about continuing onto Idaho, but quickly dismissed those thoughts when we remembered we would lose an hour in Idaho.  One time zone fact here is how the park is located in the Mountain time zone and then a few miles south pass this park, the time is back to Pacific time zone and then again east across the Snake River in Idaho changes back to the Mountain time zone, a pretty crocked time zone line.
Was good too just relax and have some spare ribs for dinner as we viewed the Snake River flowing below us and the dry Idaho hills across the river changing colors as the sunset turned to night.

September 29   Monday:   Farewell Bend State Park, Oregon       279 Miles

The rain caught up with us sometime in the night, at times falling pretty hard, but it's so great to sleep in.  Was still raining in the morning, a bit cold and dark. We had breakfast, packed up and left for a long day of wet driving all on the interstate.  The sun did try to break through the cloud cover every once in a while, but the clouds usually won.  This was a day of interstate driving over some pretty flat barren southern Idaho countryside, taking us clear across the state to the Massacre Rock State Park on the eastern side of the state.  We have stayed here before camping and found the park equally enjoyable from our site high up  on the cliffs overlooking a fantastic view of the Snake River.
